The ILO’s approach to enterprise development is aimed at unlocking the enormous potential of enterprises to create decent, long-lasting jobs in the context of lack of job opportunities for between 25% and 30% of the world’s growing labour force. The ILO has built up a strong knowledge base on enterprise development, and has many tools and methodologies for the promotion of sustainable enterprises. The ILO’s purpose is to achieve both decent work and sustainable development.

The ILO Summer Academy on Sustainable Enterprise Development will provide participants with an overview of existing tools and knowledge base in the enterprise development field with an emphasis on the role of the private sector in social and economic development. It will impact on the quality of employment generated by enterprise development programmes at the national level.

The ILO Summer Academy on Sustainable Enterprise Development offers a unique opportunity to study a rich programme of different topics under the guidance of leading ILO enterprise development specialists plus independent experts and academics, who are familiar with ILO approaches to enterprise development.

There will also be inputs from UNIDO and other organizations.

This training programme provides participants with a learning experience that combines a choice of topics with the chance to interact with a wide range of professionals working in the field of enterprise development.
